Banjo Heads can be made from plastic, calfskin or velum, and more recently a material known as fybreskin.
The sound you get from your banjo will be influenced by which type of head you have on it. Plastic style heads
are ones normally used by Bluegrass players, while Clawhammer and Frailers tend to prefer the calfskin or
Fybreskin style.....my own banjo is a Vega Tubaphone with a Fybreskin Head.
