The Flange

The Flange provides a platform for the brackets to be tightened, and also serves as a means to attach the resonator to the rest of the banjo. Its normally made from chrome plated brass sheet with 24 holes for the brackets on a standard flange. Overtightening the brackets can cause the flange to bend out of shape.....Frailing or Open Back banjos do not have a flange.
