The Fretboard or Fingerboard.

The Fretboard is usualy made from a hard wood such as rosewood, or ebony, nothing much else you can say about it really, except that when buying a used instrument, pay close attention to the lower 5 frets, these tend to be the ones most frequently used for chords and playing and as such they wear out more quickly than the rest of the fretboard.
